3am

18 years in the making.  Knowing that this day would come didn’t help.  All of Taya’s laundry was done, printer was bought, computer formatted, all of her boxes were packed and her goodbyes were hugged out.  The only thing left to do was drop her off to Guelph University.

The night before we brought her to school I couldn’t sleep.  My brain wouldn’t shut off.  I kept thinking, what if I forgot something, will she have enough money?, how our house just wont be the same without her in it and another million other what if’s!  Fortunately for me Matt was on the same page.  It was a really hot night and after fighting to fall asleep and still being wide awake, Matt and I rolled outta bed.  We ran down the stairs and out the front door.  Barefoot and in our ginch.  Matt chased me around the yard with the hose.  3am in the morning in our lil town of Port Colborne we knew we had the street to ourselves!  We laughed and danced in the cold water, knowing that 18 years ago a 19 year old and 22 year old did SOMETHING right.  Our baby girl was heading to university.  The cold water ran over our skin waking us up to the fact that our family is starting a new chapter in our epic story.

Taking Taya to her dorm was one of the proudest moments of my life.  She is ready for this!  The first text I got from her after we left her at school was only three words….”This is awesome!”

After we dropped Taya off we headed to Sarnia, Tristan was in a Wakeboard comp.  Although we didn’t get to see his run we heard from everyone how he killed it taking a risk and stomping out a new trick.  He finished his season in 1st place in the Boarder Pass Triple Crown.

For a couple of nut sacks dancing in the rain we sure do have a pair of awesome kids!

Moving Into Rez

Happy Happy!!!!

EEeeee!
I am loving my decision to cut back on the number of hours I work.
Cooking, laundry, getting the oil change done on the car, walking the dog, hanging with the kids, reading, and taking photos no longer feel like such a chore.

Matt and I did lots of running around today before he had to go in on afternoons.  We accomplished so much, and donated a bunch of stuff that we haven’t used in forever.  It felt good to get rid of the things we no longer had a need or use for, and donating it so it could be used again felt even better.

Last night I tried a new recipe that I posted yesterday….The Mock Fried Rice!  It was a total hit with the fam jam! The kids and I ended up eating pretty late cause i didn’t realize that the cauliflower need to chill in the fridge for an hour.  While the cauliflower was chilling Tristan was out hanging with the boys from his class and Taya and I decided to go for a drive looking for some photography inspiration and we found some on the side of the road!

Have a great day!

Run Baby Run!!!!

Today was the first day it actually felt like spring in my little town of Port Colborne.  Today was also Track and Field for my son Tristan, which happens to be his most favorite day of the year.  He killed it….actually all the kids killed it.  I was talking to another parent the other day about track.  His child is over weight and probably not the healthiest kid.  This father actually thought it would be a really great idea if the school board got rid of track because not all kids are fast.  I could not disagree more!  My son gets gym twice a week, thats not enough!  The kids really didn’t get to practice for track at all.  Some who had signed up for triple jump didn’t have a clue how to do it.  What the believe the kids need to more gym!  More activity.  They have reviews/practice for math tests why not for track?  I also think that school should be educating kids on health not just sex ed, but healthy eating and exercise.

The one thing that I noticed today was that every kid out on that field today was a part of something and you could tell it made them all happy in some way.  whether or not they were winning a race or coming in last, jumping the furthest or raking the pit, they were all supporting each other.  Sports and being active just supports this kind of positive behavior.

I had an amazingly balanced day today!
Took the day off work to be at Track and Field, had my mom come so I could spend time with her.
Went out for dinner with Matt and the kids, then took my daughter Taya to the mall.  My Taya really has no clue how awesome she is, I love her so much and we had such a great time!

Hope everyone had a good hump day!
